Solution for “Boot Logical Drive is Configured but is missing or Offline”

Encountering message “Boot Logical Drive is Configured but is missing or Offline“?

You may find this message on HP running P400 or P410 controller card.

You might have tried to upgrade the firmware or reconfigure the array controller or maybe re-install the entire OS. But these won’t fix this problem.

The solution is rather simple.

Solution for “Boot Logical Drive is Configured but is missing or Offline”?

During the boot time of the machine press F8 at the Array configuration/setup screen.

Using the up and down arrow key, go to “Select Boot Volume” and hit enter.

Using the up and down arrow key, go to “Direct Attached Storage” and hit enter.

Escape out and save the changes.

This will boot up the machine again and the message should not be there anymore.

I can’t boot to anything. IT won’t even let me into the BIOS before the HP 400 card takes over. I can’t boot to disk, BIOS, or anything. It just spins then throws out that error.

Not able to see the BIOS or POST screen is really odd. The common problem for this might be bad PCI slot or some other bootable device connected (like a USB). I would advice you to verify that the card and other PCI devices are perfectly into the slot and no additional storage media attached anywhere to the server.

Also let me know the server where you are having this problem.
